A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote
Development of illustrations for the American family classic Christmas book.
It’s a lovely story – that got better with each reading; I became very involved in this story – and made a Christmas cake – with whisky – as research of course. And discover for yourself – if you don’t know – the wonderful connections with To Kill a Mockingbird.
The book is full of beautiful descriptions, frosty mornings and warm fires and the poignant scenes of kites – metaphors for lost loves. It is also a book full smells and sounds – icy leaves underfoot, the wool of a scarf round a cold face, the footsteps of a little dog close by and the kitchen bustling with fire crackles, whisky soaked cake and friendship.
